Who am I?

Hello there, I’m Faith Jacobs, an openly autistic and disabled advocate! I’m the host of CoffeeBreak: A Retro-Spective Pod, and the writer behind CoffeeancomicsProductions which has produced and published three original neurodivergent led audiodramas, Chaotic Idiots: the series, Tir Na Noc brotherhood, and of course, Faithfully Yours Mozart: The Courtship. Beyond the scripted fiction world, I am also an unapologetic and proud autistic advocate, speaking out against the current harmful and destructive lingo that has been prevalent with regards to Autism and varying other disabilities. On my show, CoffeeBreak, I sit down with creatives from across the globe and on various stages of the arts to talk about self advocacy and their journeys as authors, actors, actresses, and more. While it is the smallest of the projects I’ve done, I’ve been incredibly lucky to speak to the amazing people I have and I hope you’ll take a listen to these amazing interviews. As my show says: Neurodivergent voices matter in the world of the arts. Our Neurodiversity is diversity and it’s time we lifted our voices in this field because we are capable as such. Join me, Faith Jacobs, Autistic writer, indie Audiodrama director, as i speak with colleges, peers, and others on The world of acting and beyond through our own unique Neurodiverse voices. —- We absolutely deserve a chance to have our voices heard. And for those who join me, what an absolute pleasure and privilege it is to hear theirs.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

CoffeeBreak at its core is about my mission and goal As an advocate who focuses about Autism, to make others feel and realize that it’s important to know we’re not alone in our thoughts on this current climate and the uncertainty of it all. Below, Not all my favorite advocate shows are on this list, but it’s a good start and we need these things more than ever.

What is my podcast playlist about?

Advocates for disability from all walks of life, most especially women on the spectrum sharing their experiences and their stories. It matters most that we elevate not only them but the men too who are sharing their authentic disabled stories.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Leta's Tap Styles (And My Autistic Life)

Why this podcast?

Amanda and Leta kindly invited me into their podcast space as an occasional guest after a few podcasts decided to drop me. (In hindsight, the first of the two had a legit reason for dropping me) however, the other was a major disappointment. I have not been so lucky in getting my voice out there as an autistic author, and very kindly, Leta and her mother have been receptive to the Faithfully yours Mozart project and to me as an advocate. They too have many of the same feelings and thoughts as I do on subjects related to disability in the arts and I highly encourage you to listen to their show.

3. The Sunflower Conversations

Why this podcast?

The sunflower lanyard is a tool for those with disabilities. It’s for people who have trouble in airports, work environments, it’s for those whose disabilities are not always visible, it is to make our lives easier. The company as a whole is based in Britain and they have a podcast to talk about these subjects and topics with experts and advocates in the field of disability and I would highly recommend checking out their store and their podcast. They have everything from luggage ties to sunflower braclets (these articles are great for airports especially and they’re world wide, recognized by staff so that you will have an easy time getting to your next destination.)

This is a space to hear authentic stories from disabled people navigating life with non-visible disabilities such as chronic illness, mental health conditions, neurodivergence, and more. While most episodes focus on lived experience, we also feature occasional insights from experts in healthcare, accessibility, and inclusion.

Whether you or someone you care about wears the Sunflower, our conversations aim to raise awareness, build understanding, and help create a more inclusive and compassionate world.

Empowering voices. Raising awareness. Challenging assumptions - one conversation at a time.

4. Seen and Not Heard

Why this podcast?

While not an interview podcast, it is worth mentioning that seen and not heard is unique for its take on deafness and hard of hearing characters in the world of disability. I was fully blown away by the characters and the story, it is an absolutely relatable fiction podcast, and one i reccomend highly to anyone interested in a disabled person’s perspective in a fiction podcast. Something that is even rarer and often not done well, is very much handled incredibly well here.

What happens when you lose something you thought you'd always have? What happens when the thing you lose is one of your senses? Bet Kline is deaf. That wasn't the case a year ago. Now that her life has been upended, she has to figure out how to carve out a new path for herself and navigate her way down it. Easier said than done.

Why this podcast?

A shout out to my podcasting colleague, Emma and her crew of Into the Hollow. The whole cast is full of LGBTQIA+ actors that intersect with disabled rep and disabled stories. It’s a beautiful piece of art and if you love science fiction most of all, it’s a fun inter dimensional fantasy/sci fi story that is sure to keep you engaged and entertained.
