What is shame?
Brené Brown, author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), defined shame as:
The intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love, belonging, and connection. It thrives on secrecy, silence, and judgment, [growing] exponentially into every corner and crevice of our lives.
Shame is an often overlooked and misunderstood emotion. Many people do not realize that shame is actually one of the most damaging emotions and can lead to many other problems such as depression, addiction, and eating disorders.
In addition, it is an emotion that most people try to avoid. Unfortunately, this often leads to a cycle of shame in which people feel guilty or embarrassed about their actions and then feel ashamed of themselves for feeling those emotions. But, as our guest Elvira Hopper shares with us today, there are ways to break the cycle of shame and start working towards recovery.
Elvira talks about living out of alignment with shame for decades in this episode. With her hopes and dreams of being a jazz singer curtailed by her parents' expectations for her, she pursued an inauthentic 6 figure, award-winning medical and Big Pharma career for three decades. While lucrative, this led to several problems, affecting her marriage and life, before she was miraculously gifted with a fast and natural way out of her darkness.
Elvira fused her love for performing musically with her healing abilities. She became a coach, sacred sound healer, and professional jazz artist she always was at the ripe sweet age of 51, working and recording on world-class jazz stages with Juno award-winning artists. Her mission is to help co-create heaven on earth by helping heart-centered humans live aligned, authentic & fully self-expressed through her The Love Your Vibe Transformation.

Brené Brown, author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), stated that:
“The heart of compassion is really acceptance. The better we are at accepting ourselves and others, the more compassionate we become.”
In today's times, women of all ages and backgrounds are speaking up and taking the lead. This newfound power leads to great strides in both our personal and professional lives, but it doesn't come easy. For many women, self-acceptance is an ongoing journey that requires resilience in the face of countless setbacks.
Women often feel like they're not good enough, whether it's their appearance, intelligence, or ability to do things "right." This can lead to a lot of self-judgment and anxiety. For our guest, Jen Aks-Neuman, it is time for women to break the mold and achieve radical acceptance of themselves.
Jen is a documentarian and embodiment coach who founded herStories in response to the pandemic as a way to help Womxn tell their stories of resilience. Her mission is to shift the mindset of humanity, one story at a time. She has combined her 30+ years of movement practices, photography, editing, speaking, and directing to curate The herStories Collection, producing close to 100 documentaries since the pandemic began.
These are meant to educate, inspire, empower and open our hearts and minds to what is possible, helping Womxn unlock emotions that have provided breakthroughs and new perspectives about who they are and what is possible in their lives. This movement has crossed three oceans and four seas, landed in five countries, and has impacted countless Womxn worldwide to help them find radical acceptance for themselves and humanity.
