On the 1st of March 2010, single mother 26-year-old Monica Botello took her 6-year-old daughter and 8-year-old daughter to her ex-boyfriend Percil Carson’s house on the 19000 block of Glastonbury, Detroit. Percil had a 10-year-old son from a prior relationship and was a father figure to Monica’s two young girls. Following their breakup, they remained close friends. During the evening, Percil called his mother at 7:58 pm and told her that the girls were watching TV and that Monica was over. Under an hour later, however, two men arrived at the home and the evening turned sour. Monica took her two young girls into the bathroom while the men took Percil down to the basement. A few minutes later, they came back and took Monica down too, leaving the two girls alone. Suddenly, the girls heard shots coming from the basement below, and the two men quickly left the property. Once they knew the coast was clear, the 8-year-old left the bathroom and rushed downstairs to the basement. Bravely, she dialled 911 at 8:50 pm and desperately tried to get help for her family. This is the story behind one of the most shocking and disturbing 911 calls ever released.
