Feeling overwhelmed?

Brené Brown, author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), defines being overwhelmed as:

An extreme level of stress, an emotional and/or cognitive intensity to the point of feeling unable to function.

If being stressed is being in the weeds, feeling overwhelmed is being blown.

Stress and overwhelm are extremely common nowadays. It's tough to know what to do when you feel like you have too much on your plate. If you feel overwhelmed, this episode with Irina Shehovsov will help you take control of mental, emotional, physical, spiritual states to live your best life.

Irina shares her story of living a life of being overwhelmed as a single mother of two. Being a single mother and enduring all the painful things before that, such as her divorce, took a toll on Irina's life. As she recounts, she managed to lose her identity, which prompted her to look for the pathway to rediscover herself.

She gives tips on how she was able to rebuild and manage herself to show up for her kids and herself. Doing this enabled her to transform the most overwhelming point of her life into her purpose - helping those who feel broken and lost in life to find their way towards a fulfilling life once again.

Irina is an NLP Master Practitioner and Coach, Time Line Therapy® Master Practitioner, motivational speaker, author, and creator of Happiness Academy who helps brokenhearted and discouraged people feel alive again so that they can lead fulfilling lives and impact the lives of others as well.

What is empathy?

Brené Brown, author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), defines empathy as:

A skill set that is one of the most powerful tools of compassion.

Empathy and compassion are related but distinct concepts since both involve understanding another person's situation. The concept of empathy is rooted in identifying, relating, and being present to another person's feelings. It does not necessarily mean you feel the same thing that the other person is feeling.

In this episode, Kevin Henry joins us in exploring and understanding all facets of empathy. For Kevin, people fear the feeling of empathy since it makes us more vulnerable and makes us remember specific occurrences in the past.

He also gives tips regarding opening ourselves to other perspectives, allowing us to feel empathy fully. Kevin pointed out that disallowing ourselves in doing this opens the door to more fear, anxiety, and nonacceptance towards other people.

Kevin is changing the narrative of how people navigate their lives with his 30 years of experience in Program Management, Diversity-Equity-Inclusion education, journalism, training, writing, acting fields, public speaking, and as the host of All The Way Authentic podcast.

What is love?

Brené Brown, author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), defines love as:

We cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from that offering with trust, respect, kindness, and affection.

Love is not something we give or get; it is something that we nurture and grow, a connection that can be cultivated between two people only when it exists within each one of them—we can love others only as much as we love ourselves.

In this episode, Dr. Jackie Black shares how couples can cultivate love and sustain it not only in this month of love but in each and every day of their lives. Dr. Jackie aims for couples to live every day like they are on their honeymoon, embracing and solidifying couplehood as a result.

She also focuses on the importance of connection – knowing how to connect and stay connected, which she believes most couples don’t know is the key to a long-lasting relationship. She gives tips on how to master this art of connection, mainly through being openhearted and vulnerable.

Dr. Jackie is a relationship educator and a board-certified couples coach who has helped over 1,000 couples in eight countries learn, grow, thrive, and have fun together for them to experience deeper, more meaningful connections and intimacy and rekindle and strengthen their relationships.
