We are obsessed with Brene Brown's latest book, Atlas of The Heart. This is what is inspiring us to take a deeper dive into these emotions.
Joy is a positive attitude that comes from feeling connected to yourself. Here’s the thing: you need to be vulnerable in order to experience joy. Dr. Brené Brown, a research professor at the University of Houston, has talked extensively about joy, vulnerability, and gratitude.
How can you feel utter joy while going through pain? Is it possible? Can joy be the antidote to life's biggest challenges? How do you feel joy when you are grieving or experiencing trauma? Can joy and pain co-exist?
What is the difference between being happy and feeling joy? Do you struggle to see the joy in the everyday? This is an issue many people face and do not know what to do. Today Jules and Tia give an intimate glimpse. that at times seem painful and then, sometimes have immeasurable joy. This conversation will have you rethinking your journey on earth. Share this with your friends who need a real story of hope.
We explore this topic with raw and heartfelt vulnerability.

What is vulnerability?
Brené Brown, author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), defines and describes vulnerability as:
The emotion that we experience during times of uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure.
In our culture, we tend to equate vulnerability with weakness. We see it as a character flaw, something to be ashamed of and hidden away. But, vulnerability is, in fact, a sign of courage. It takes great courage to reveal our authentic selves to others, open ourselves up and be vulnerable. We tap into a wellspring of love and connection that allows us to form meaningful relationships when we do so.
In this episode, Rev. Leslie Peters is here to share how she was able to see her authentic self through vulnerability. The abuse and neglect she experienced throughout her life left her feeling disconnected. This led her to a lifelong practice to give others what she needed.
Uncovering the true meaning of love through her practice, Rev. Leslie felt the need to release her ‘armor,’ allowing herself to step into her courage, live with an open heart, and find power in vulnerability. For Rev. Leslie, being vulnerable is also the ability to stand and own your truth regardless of the consequences.
Rev. Leslie, the Heart Nurturer, has been helping people for 32 years. She is a registered nurse, an ordained minister, a trauma and resilience expert, and a transformational conversationalist. She is on a mission to create a safe space for trauma survivors to unapologetically see, accept, and reconnect with their true selves.

There is nothing worse than a know-it-all, (you know the kind of person that thinks they are correct all of the time). In today's episode, we ask the question: How can I lead my best life by using the power of curiosity? Curiosity is the lynchpin in building creating great leaders, avoiding conflict, and changing the neuroplasticity of our brains. We are joined by the Obsessed bestie, Corinna Bellizzi, who explains how curiosity can solve most of the world's problems.
The #obsessedpodcast is OBSESSED with Brene Brown and her latest book "Atlas of The Heart". Brene defines curiosity as:
Curiosity is the feeling of deprivation we experience when we identify and focus on a gap in our knowledge. •
We need to have some level of awareness and interest in a topic before we become truly curious. •
When we are curious, the brain is primed to learn and retain information.
• Curiosity can be uncomfortable because it requires uncertainty and vulnerability.
• Curiosity is about listening and asking the right questions.
• “Tell me more” is a great curiosity rumble tool.
• In the context of solving problems, failure to be curious results in poor solutions. Curiosity means focusing on the nature of the problem before even considering a solution.
• Curiosity and knowledge-building grow together—the more we know, the more we want to know.
