In our society, we learn from others that our emotions are bad, and we need to tough it out, power through, and be all smiles and sunshine.

We learn to bottle up our emotions, eventually turning into shame or guilt. We don't know how to deal with them, so we shove them away and ignore them until they come back louder than ever before.

When we're feeling our emotions, we might feel like we need to get rid of them as quickly as possible or that they make us a problem that needs fixing. But this must not be the case! What if we could actually allow ourselves to feel any emotion, positive and negative, that comes up for us?
