We are inspired by Brene Brown- so today we are kicking off our series on the 30 core emotions on the #obsessedpodcast.
Start with the understanding that we all wear protective armor. We project trauma, we project challenges. We put this armor on, we put this armor on and use blame or anger as protection. How is this armor serving you?
Is it weighing you down? How does this armor, this emotional armor, projected to the world? Brene Brown suggests replacing this armor. Replace this armor with curiosity. Curiosity can be your superpower. It can be your superpower. You have the ability to ask questions.
You have the ability to ask questions about yourself. Ask yourself about the connections you have. How does this serve you?
Be curious, invest in yourself. Invest in being more self-aware.
If you are 35 plus, technically halfway to dead.
I know that sounds brutal, but you may be halfway to the end of your last breath. Understand your why, understand the WHY THAT MAKES YOU CRY.
We are equally obsessed with the works of Brene Brown and are inspired to study and understand the 30 core emotions. Each week we will explore another emotion, talk to experts in their field and inspire you to live the life you are meant to be living.
We are Julie Lokun, JD, Tia Morell Walden, Certified Holistic Nutritionist, and Mika Altidor, Certified Life Coach. Join us for the conversation, and more importantly be a part of the conversation. Reach out with a question or comment about an episode or suggest a personal development topic you are obsessed with. After all, the Obsessed Podcast is for you and about you.

Obsessed With Living Wholeheartedly ft. Susan Burrell
January 13, 2022
•28m
Susan Burrell loves supporting women in their inner growth toward finding their true empowerment. And she shares how we can truly discover our true selves in this episode.
For Susan, empowerment is about having the courage to live your life according to what you truly desire. It's about making decisions free from influences such as fears or doubt but rather being driven by a real sense of purpose and passion.
Susan also talks about how to tap into your intuitive side -- in which she states people are afraid of their inner wisdom due to its psychic nature. She relates this to her own experience as she went through a long, contentious divorce after 28 years of marriage.
Susan is an Intuitive Healer and Spiritual Guide at the crossroads of life with more than 25 years of experience counseling and supporting people in transforming from the inside out.
Susan is living a life that is wholehearted. After living through many of life's challenges she made the choice (like our girl Tina Turner) to own her life and use her intuition to make powerful changes.
What is wholehearted living? Simply put, it means living and loving with your whole heart.
According to Brené Brown, wholehearted living “is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness.” It’s understanding that yes, you are imperfect, vulnerable, and afraid, but you are also brave and worthy of love and belonging.

What is humiliation?
Brene Brown, the author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), defines humiliation as:
The intensely painful feeling that we have been unjustly degraded, ridiculed, or put down, and that our identity has been demeaned or devalued.
Almost everyone has experienced the sensation of being humiliated. It's a feeling of helplessness, embarrassment, and rejection. Humiliation can quickly determine how we view ourselves in the years to come.
Dr. Cobb shares her own humiliation experiences and how they negatively impacted her life -- which extended to personal problems, eating disorders, and alcoholism.
For Dr. Cobb, humiliation doesn't necessarily have to be what other people see as it takes place in our minds and how it manifests in our bodies. But fortunately, she shares insights on how to get out of it!
Dr. Laura Cobb is a life coach who empowers high-achieving women to rid themselves of fear, guilt, and shame to proudly and confidently suit up, show up, step up, and speak up at every opportunity. She sees herself as an ordinary woman making extraordinary choices one day at a time.
