Welcome to foHRsight – a podcast about making work better brought to you by future foHRward.

This is the first of a two parter where Naomi had the opportunity to connect with Josh Bersin.

Recent grandfather (title to be confirmed!) Josh shared insights from his recent book Irresistible – The Seven Secrets of the World’s Most Enduring Employee-Focused Organizations.

This included talking about culture, the importance of communities at work, the importance of the employee experience and his top three HR technology trends.

He also talked about the need for organizations to reinvent their leadership frameworks to better reflect the world of work.

You can learn more about Josh’s work HERE!

And don’t forget to come back next week for more insights from Josh and Naomi.

Welcome to foHRsight – a podcast about making work better brought to you by future foHRward.

Bossware, workplace spyware or tattleware is another one of those trends we’ve seen emerge in recent years.

We share background to a Canadian case in January where an employee was ordered to pay a fine for time theft that was picked up through monitoring software.

While there are elements of monitoring that can be helpful when it comes to individual productivity, we express our concern about the evasiveness of this sort of technology and how it can be abused by companies.

Our view is that the bigger challenge is around measuring productivity and we point to the research from Microsoft report and their term productivity paranoia (see below), but we do challenge ourselves to explore any benefits it can provide. Spoiler alert ... there aren’t many and we’re fans of macromanagement!

Welcome to foHRsight – a podcast about making work better brought to you by future foHRward.

This is the second part of our recent conversation with Josh Bersin.

In this episode, Naomi explores with Josh more of the secrets to enduring employee-focused organizations including growth not promotion.

They also explore the organizations that are doing this work well and discuss how the systemic HR model can be used to ensure organizations are getting the right support from their HR teams.
