Who am I?

My name is Faith Jacobs and I’m an openly autistic author, podcaster, director and producer of several original projects, including Chaotic idiots. My podcasting background and start: When I tuned into fiction podcasts during the height of the pandemic days (March of 2020) I started first with a story called the two princes and then discovered Valence and Last Call At Bluebell cafe, and Far Meridian. I appreciated the change of pace from the void that was my life so, in honor or those stories, here’s a list containing the few that helped me and I hope they help you too. As much as my own, chaotic idiots, may help you to be kinder to yourself and to those around you, it was deeply inspired by the following podcasts as chosen below. Chaotic idiots is more than it appears. It’s chosen genre is fantasy but it’s also a coming of age story about a boy who finds himself caught up in things he never knew. It’s a story that tackles growing pains, learning to understand ones identity, there’s magic and mayhem along the way, and ultimately facing the forces of destiny when you never chose the path laid before you. There were many tough experiences in my life that made me realize I could bring something different to the world of Neurodivergent representation. Jacob Faust was only my stepping stone, he was simply one ripple and Edgar would be the next. However, at its core is a story about trying to run away and escape and handle your problems or Emotions and other trying circumstances on your own and learning the hard way that sometimes life isn’t that simple. It’s not so clear. Sometimes life is inherently grey. And sometimes our feelings are bigger than us, and sometimes we face a lot of things we wish we didn’t have to. And yet we do. In relation to Chaotic Idiots, Sometimes you need an escape from life, through a fictional world, a fictional hero who lends a helping hand, even when you don’t realize you need it. below, these few fiction podcasts listed helped me when I was in need of comfort, escape, the ability to feel seen, heard, and understood by stories that tackle relatable issues and challenges. I hope chaotic idiots can help you as much as the media below helped me to understand myself better and most importantly to feel seen when it is most difficult to be heard in such times as we live in.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. The Far Meridian

Why this podcast?

I think we all felt like Perri at times in our lives. Sometimes life throws us a curveball and we might be scared to take the first step towards the goal ahead, we might need to push ourselves in uncomfortable situations and territory that goes beyond our comfort zones, our control and our ability to be our own hero or possibly our own enemy. Far Meridian asks us to confront our fears of the unknown and sometimes to trust those who unexpectedly fall into our paths.

3. Sherlock & Co.

Why this podcast?

For my fellow Neurodivergent Sherlock nerds, this is a show for you! Sherlock is canonically autistic in this series and no one can tell you otherwise that he’s not, no one can fault you or shout about your “headcanon” Neurodiverse Sherlock because he was written as such here and that is incredibly empowering. The writing is also incredibly well done and solid. Absolutely amazing, please check this out!
