Ryan Grantham: The Child Star Who Murdered His Mother

On March 31, 2020, 64-year-old Barbara Waite sat playing her piano at her home in Squamish, British Columbia. It was an activity that the adoring mother of two loved to do.

But as she played her melodies, Barbara had no idea that this would be her last moment on Earth.

Because quietly standing behind her, her 21-year-old son, former child actor Ryan Grantham, had a rifle pointed right to the back of her head.

Before she could finish the song, a shot rang out, ending her life.

What followed was hours of planning and driving — Ryan building Molotov cocktails, loading his car, and setting out for a target nearly 5,000 kilometres away: the Ottawa home of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
