Experiencing the world as it is, isn’t really possible when you consider that reality is actually created by your brain’s perception of what is. Don Hoffman is a cognitive psychologist that argues that organisms develop their perception of the world directed towards fitness payoffs and not reality. Everything from our perception of reality is taken in through what Don would relate to a spacetime simulator that we are experiencing through a virtual reality headset. Just as Oculus creates an experience that can make you feel as though you are actually skydiving or on a roller coaster, so is the life we believe to be reality.

It might be easy to think that charisma is something you’re born with - either you have it or you don’t.

But what makes someone charismatic? Why are some people able to capture our attention with apparent ease, while others have difficulty standing out from the crowd?

According to bestselling author Vanessa Van Edwards, the answer lies in the hidden language of cues - the tiny, nonverbal signals we send to others in every interaction.

In today’s episode of Impact Theory, Vanessa explores the powerful impact that even the most subtle cues can have on others.

Not only that, but she shares some powerful techniques for improving our awareness of cues, and how to use them to our advantage - proving once and for all that charisma isn’t something you’re born with, it’s something you can develop with practice.

If you want to dive even deeper into what’s discussed in todays episode, then be sure to check out Vanessa’s latest book, Cues: Master the Secret Language of Charismatic Communication by clicking here: https://amzn.to/3h2Eg4p

Whether we know it or not, much of our success in business and in life depends on our ability to negotiate effectively. From buying a house or car to negotiating your salary to coming to an agreement with your partner - negotiation is a game-changing skill that everyone should master.

In today’s episode of Impact Theory, master negotiator Chris Voss shares some of the most important takeaways he’s learned over the years, both as a 24-year veteran of the FBI, and as the founder and CEO of The Black Swan Group - a world-class negotiation consulting firm.

Chris has been on the front lines of some of the most high-stakes hostage negotiations of the last 20 years, and the depth of his knowledge of human psychology is apparent throughout the whole conversation.
