In 2004, a retired couple who had been living on a yacht, sailing the California coastline for the previous 2 years, learned they were going to be grandparents. They were so excited about it, they decided to sell their yacht and move back onto the land to live closer to their grandchild. The retirees quickly found a buyer for their boat, and they made plans to meet some of their family members back on land after the sale, but the couple never showed up. It wasn't until someone noticed some very strange things on board the couple's yacht that the mystery of what happened to them was uncovered.

In 1992, a young mother received a package in the mail that had no return address on it. When she brought it inside her house and opened it up, she found it contained a non-fiction murder mystery novel. She didn't know why it had been sent to her, but when she opened the novel up, she noticed someone had gone through and underlined several sections. At first, she assumed this novel must just be second hand copy and so the previous owner's notes were still inside. But when she actually read some of the highlighted sections, she immediately understood that someone was sending her a terrifying message... But this would only be the start of her nightmare.

But shortly after their engagement had begun, cracks in their relationship formed and they broke it off. It seemed like they both were moving on and building new lives for themselves, until a very strange email arrived in one of their inboxes... then another email showed up.... then another.... and another.... and before long, people were getting attacked and others were getting arrested.
