this is a series where I take concepts, questions and philosphies that I talk about on my podcast and expand on them...the concept that if you have a better relationship with your dog that it will not have bad behaviors....i delve a little bit deeper into this and why it is a dangerous and pretty much false narrative...I am not saying you should not have a relationship with your dog, of course you should, everyone doesm, but is it healthy or not healthy, and even healthy relationsips do not stop dog aggression and numerous other bad behaviors..training stops it, the knowledge of applying a correction stops it..and news alert you actually don't have to have a relationship with your dog to do that...so it is a un thought provoking cut/paste comment that when someone says, "if you had a better relationsip your dog would not do that" or "build a better relationship and your dog will not do that", that is quite false and a dangersous road to go down and leaves owners struggling and shamed.

I often get a snarky and uneducated cut/paste comment from somenone that says you use remote colllars because you are lazy, want a shortcut, using fear etc to train the dog. So much misinformation out there about remote collar. If I gave a remote collar to that person they would not know what to do with it, they would not be able to train the dog, why? because it takes a skill set, you still have to understand how to train the dog, there are so many variables to training a dog and you need to understand that. No different than food, if i gave you a food pouch and a clicker, you would also not know what to do unless you also understood how to train the dog, technically clicker training is a shortcut, ie: dogs understand this audible marker and move forward through training much faster than not using one. So the clicker is a short cut.....yep no one says that and it does not make sense. Also the concept well every dog is different and needs different training, sure BUT....all dogs can be trained with a clicker and all dogs can be trained with a remote collar, the handler just needs to understand how to actually train a dog. So in this WWJD goes deep a few things to think about when trainining with a remote collar and this supposed "shortcut" by using one, I don't even touch much on the unstability of many pet dogs and the variables of understanding the remote collar.
