The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne audiobook.

Genre: adventure

A story of castaways, similar to Robinson Crusoe and The Swiss Family Robinson, this book details the escape from Civil War-era Richmond, Virginia, of five Northern men who dared to go aloft in a balloon in the midst of a hurricane. Deposited on a lonely island in the Pacific, they make do with Yankee ingenuity where Chance has left them nothing. Only later do they find they have a hidden benefactor: Captain Nemo, of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, who resides, alone, secretly on the island. In time, the tiny colony becomes so prosperous that it is able to rescue another castaway from an island a hundred miles away. But all their work will come to naught - their island's volcano is about to awake!

Journey to the Interior of the Earth by Jules Verne audiobook.

Genre: scifi

In 1863 Hamburg, absent-minded mineralogist Professor Otto Lidenbrock makes a startling discovery: an encrypted note tucked inside an ancient book, hinting at a passage to the Earth's deepest regions. With his steady, skeptical nephew Axel reluctantly in tow, and guided by the calm, resourceful Icelandic hunter Hans, the professor races to Iceland to test a theory that most scientists dismiss as fantasy. Their route descends through a volcanic crater and into a world of darkness, heat, and impossible scale, where compasses falter, provisions dwindle, and every echo may hide a new danger. As the expedition presses on, the trio confronts underground storms, vast caverns, and mysteries that challenge what they think they know about geology, time, and life itself. Part scientific puzzle, part survival saga, Jules Verne's classic blends daring exploration with wonder, asking how far curiosity should drive us - and what it costs to keep moving forward when the way out is as uncertain as the way down.

The Story of the Three Little Pigs by L. Leslie Brooke audiobook.

Genre: folklore

In L. Leslie Brooke's classic retelling, three pig siblings set out to make homes of their own and prove they can thrive without anyone else's help. Each chooses a different path: one favors speed and ease, another aims for comfort with a little more care, and the third commits to patient, sturdy work. But when a hungry, clever wolf appears on the road, those choices stop being simple and become a test of judgment, courage, and quick thinking. As the wolf circles closer, puffing with confidence and looking for the weakest point, the pigs must rely on what they have built and what they have learned about planning ahead. Told with a brisk, memorable rhythm and matched to Brooke's vivid, characterful illustrations, this beloved tale turns a simple contest of houses into a larger story about effort, responsibility, and the difference between a shortcut and a solid foundation. Perfect for listeners who love traditional storybook adventures with a clear moral and plenty of suspense.
