The Hidden Places by Bertrand W. Sinclair audiobook.

Genre: drama

Robert Hollister comes home from World War I carrying the kind of wound no medal can redeem: a face so scarred that strangers flinch, old friends do not recognize him, and ordinary life turns into a daily humiliation. Officially, he is dead. In practice, he is alive long enough to learn that his wife, Myra, has remarried, his property has slipped away, and the future he planned has vanished. With nothing left to anchor him in the city, Hollister drifts west to the Pacific Coast and then farther still, into the remote reaches of British Columbia, where rain-soaked forests, tidal inlets, and hard physical work offer a brutal sort of peace. In the wild, he meets Doris Cleveland, a young woman living with blindness and her own fierce resolve to keep life meaningful. Their unlikely connection becomes a lifeline, but the solitude Hollister seeks is not as empty as he expects - the backcountry has memories, neighbors, and entanglements of its own. As past and present begin to overlap, Hollister must decide whether he can accept himself, risk tenderness again, and build a life in the hidden places where survival is simple, but the heart is not.

The Heath Hover Mystery by Bertram Mitford audiobook.

Genre: mystery

A stranger appears in the middle of the night at Heath Hover while John Seward Mervyn is tending the modest location in a wooded area near a pond. Legends abound regarding Heath Hover; legends such as one's inability to spend a full night at the Heath on certain nights of the year, and that the place was quite simply.... haunted. These were legends which Mervyn has set out to disprove. He would, however, soon find that these were but a few of the mysteries surrounding this peculiar locale. And what was beyond that cellar door that appeared to open by itself at the right (wrong) times? A trip to the other side of the world might just hold the answers to the Heath Hover mystery.

The Land of Frozen Suns by Bertrand W. Sinclair audiobook.

Genre: adventure

Bertrand W. Sinclair was known for his novels which centered in and around the rugged and frozen terrain of Montana and later, British Columbia. The Land of Frozen Suns is primarily an action and adventure novel which takes place near the northern most reaches of British Columbia at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Bob Sumner, after having been shanghaied onto a boat heading north up the Mississippi from his comfortable home town of St. Louis, is put to work on the 'New Moon' and finds himself in the much less comfortable territory mentioned earlier, where he is forced to learn all about treachery, double-crossing, and finds his trust in fellow man questioned more often than he was accustomed to. At the same time, he finds himself needing to learn how to survive in an environment which seemed the antithesis to his old style of life.
