The Green World by Hal Clement audiobook.

Genre: scifi

The planet was an enigma. Among the thousands of inhabitable planets that had been discovered and visited, Veridis alone seemed to defy the laws of planetary development and evolution. It was extremely young, barely 10 million years had passed since it was completely molten and yet now it was covered with life of all kinds; kinds that should have not had a chance to even begin to develop, much less reach their current stage. To investigate this anomaly among the stars, a team of experienced specialists was sent out to delve further into the mystery and if possible, solve it. Other than the obvious fields of planetology and geology, other specialties were included like paleontology and archaeology. The highly dangerous flora and fauna of the planet do not help at all. So, what is the cause? It lies deeper in the Green Planet than anyone thinks and is much more dangerous than they can ever imagine.

The Spirit of Sweetwater by Hamlin Garland audiobook.

Genre: drama

In the mountain West, Richard Clement arrives in the mining country with little money and a stubborn resolve to make his way. A few hard years later, he is no longer an anonymous prospector but the sole owner of a wildly profitable mine called The Witch, a fortune that brings power, suspicion, and a grinding loneliness he did not expect. Seeking rest and a return to ordinary human company, Clement takes leave from his operations and goes to Sweetwater Springs, a small resort village built around mineral waters long believed to restore health. There, amid summer visitors, music, gossip, and the quiet rituals of people hoping to be healed, he meets Ellice Ross, a young woman weakened by illness but marked by uncommon courage. Clement is drawn to her and begins to believe that devotion, will, and the force of his own vitality might help her recover. As their bond deepens, Clement must confront what his sudden wealth has made of him, what he truly owes to those who helped him rise, and whether love can redeem a life shaped by risk, ambition, and the harsh arithmetic of the mines.
