Before cancer was a hashtag. Before survivorship was a talking point. Before anyone rang a damn bell—there were Mavericks.
They didn’t look like heroes. They weren’t trying to go viral. They were patients, parents, doctors, punks, poets, and misfits who got sick, got angry, and got loud. They questioned authority, rewrote the rules, and turned personal trauma into public transformation. They didn’t wait to be invited into the room—they built new rooms.
The Cancer Mavericks is a documentary podcast series about the people who made survivorship matter—before it had a name. From the National Cancer Act to the birth of the AYA movement, from grassroots organizing to celebrity activism, from chemo brain to the cancer Moonshot—this is the untold history of how patients forced the system to care.
Created and hosted by 30-year brain cancer survivor and healthcare rebel Matthew Zachary, this isn’t a story about cancer. It’s a story about what people do after.
Bold. Human. Unapologetically real.

Cancer treatment and recovery bring complicated decisions, unpredictable side effects, and questions no one prepared you for. The Cancer Pod is an integrative oncology podcast that bridges conventional cancer care with evidence-based complementary approaches, giving patients, survivors, caregivers, and family members practical tools and honest answers, with a touch of humor to make the hard stuff less scary.
I’m Leah Sherman, ND, RYT, an integrative practitioner and breast cancer survivor with years of clinical experience working in cancer centers supporting patients through treatment and survivorship. Each episode covers a different aspect of integrative care, whether discussing the management of treatment side effects, helping navigate cancer survivorship, and separating the science from wellness-industry noise. You’ll hear expert interviews, practical strategies addressing supplements and nutrition, and real conversations with #cancerinsiders—people who have turned their own diagnosis into advocacy and support for others.
No matter where you are on the cancer continuum—newly diagnosed, mid-treatment, living with cancer or well into survivorship—The Cancer Pod gives you the evidence, tools, and community to move forward with clarity and confidence.

The Deep C Podcast is for families, caregivers, friends and community who are supporting a child through a cancer diagnosis.
While every ounce of your being is used to carry your child, this podcast is here to carry you. When you're bedside at the hospital, sitting in a waiting room for the millionth appointment, or just need to feel like you're not alone in this dark place - come find us.
Our conversations will match the ones you're already having in your head. No topic is off limits, no fear is kept hidden. We speak to parents and caregivers at every stage of a diagnosis - families who are NED and families who are bereaved - diving deep into their reflections and personal accounts of how they walked (sometimes crawled) through their child's cancer diagnosis.
This is not a medical podcast, we don't discuss chemo cocktails or treatment plans. You already talk about that enough. This podcast is where you come for conversations between people JUST like you: scared, tired, determined, and fierce as hell.

Matthew Zachary is the healthcare policy love child of Jon Stewart, Howard Stern, Thomas Paine, Ralph Nader, and Jerry Seinfeld. He has 19 years of receipts to prove it.
Editorially independent. Answerable to no one.
What started as The Stupid Cancer Show in 2007 became Out of Patients. The first online health podcast in America, predating the medium itself. Zachary survived brain cancer at 21, built the young adult cancer movement from scratch, and spent two decades channeling patient rage into something the system never saw coming.
Now he is marching into Washington.
Out of Patients goes where the comfortable shows will not. Politics. Healthcare policy. Economics. Institutional accountability. Consumer protection. The forces shaping what 330 million Americans can access, afford, and survive. Battle-scarred patients. Exhausted caregivers. Rare insiders brave enough to name what is killing us. And the occasional elected official about to find out what an organized patient constituency actually looks like.
This is the show that started the conversation America is still not ready to finish.
