Welcome to PART 2 of your crash course on how to pronounce words as a beginner Speaker!
In 60ish minutes, you are going to accomplish something it took your first years of primary school to do if you are a native English speaker.
You’ll be able to pick up any menu, lyrics, or book and be able to pronounce everything correctly, even though you may not know the meaning of every word yet.
In this episode, Val and Em will teach you:
✅ How to pronounce the vowels in Spanish, AEIOU
✅ To sing the alphabet in Spanish - and therefore spell out your own name in Spanish, (however we take no liability for the quality of your singing!)
✅ Identify the letters that are pronounced differently in Spanish than in English
✏️ Reto / Challenge of the week
Look up a spanish word starting with a ‘J’
Pop it in the comments with your answer, we would love to see what you find. AND then out loud, try practicing pronouncing the word with the ‘h’ sound.

✅ How Spanish is a phonetic language, you pronounce the letters always as they are written (unlike English which has 20+ letter sound combinations!)
✅ Accents in Spanish go above the vowels only. They indicate emphasis, they can also change the meaning of the word. For example, like camino (path) vs caminó (he/she walked)
✅ The H in Spanish is silent. No more saying Hola, say ola (pretend like the H is not even there)
✏️ Reto / Challenge of the week
Look up a Spanish word starting with a "H"
Pop it in the comments with your answer, we would love to see what you find. AND then out loud, try practicing pronouncing the word. Remembering, the H is silent! Pretend like it doesn't exist!

✅ What are the unique letter combinations in Spanish and how to pronounce them - featuring a tutorial from profe Val about how to pronounce/ roll your R in Spanish
✅ What are the two special letters that you need to know about and how to pronounce them?
✅ What ways may these different letters and letter combinations may sound, depending on if you’re listening to someone for example from Spain vs Latin America?
✏️ Reto / Challenge of the week
Find a word starting with a R or has a double RR in spanish.
Write it in the comments and its meaning, and then practice saying it out loud. For example, Perro or Reto!
